Hi Preparedness Group,
Thank you to all who were able to make it to the classes today! We had some great discussion on first aid care and supplies and on medicine. For those who weren't able to be there, I've attached the handout for today's class and a Medical Information form for you to copy and fill out for each member of your family. That form along with any attachments (such as copies of prescriptions, living will, power of attorney, etc.) should be put in a re-closable bag in your 72 hour kit as part of your important documents.
(Note - some of the information on the section about medicine in the handout came from a Wall Street Journal article I clipped a few years ago about lessons learned from the Katrina Hurricane about being medically prepared for a disaster. This is very important information for anyone with necessary medication to take or who needs special medical supplies.)
Our goals for this month are at the end of the First Aid Handout -- basically, obtain your 1st aid kits, your 2 week supply of needed medicine, and your health documents for your 72 hour kits.
I'm hearing some great things from people who are working hard on their kits. Great job! Keep it up. It's neat to see these kits coming together. If we stay on schedule, we should be done by November!
Next month we will be discussing "Light & Communication".
